From My Heart to Theirs
(Part I)
The time is 2:20 AM
11 hours since we spoke
You took me to a diner
I talked the whole time
whilst you ate food for fingers
You listened for 60 minutes
And when you dropped me off
I forgot your name
Then I woke;
We met the next day, but our eyes did not
Was it all a dream?
I could recite it verbatim.
Or perhaps my brain has been dishonest with me
And tricked me into liking you.
(Part II)
We were two characters written to be killed
From too much emotion, and the tears we spilled (love).
Fictional stories, yet the pain was raw
I am the bane of your story
You are my godsend prayer (love).
Living proof of the cruelty and devotion
The plot twist is being murdered by the cure (love).
I am afraid to reach the heavens
When I have not felt your hands (love).
(Part III)
Is the glass half empty
or have you poured the water
into the drain of your lies where all the
other foolish things sit there and dry?
They say all good things end.
If they are right, then
this is the reason
I keep living in torment.
(Part IV)
Before she put cement on my fresh heart, she let me dwell on hoax affection and linger on honeyed vows.
In school, she shared her happiness through her teeth, glanced at guilt, traced circles in my palms when she panicked, and let her heart beat for me.
We graduated, entrusting tomorrow to the stars. My shirt met the wet grass from the pouring rain last night. She told me to bring a blanket, so I did. She lies on it alone.
I am left shivering. I need my sun. Alas, my sun has found her own Earth.
I do not shiver anymore. I have been cemented.
