Life II
In another life where the
trees stood forever and the flowers
bloomed during nighttime,
I kept quiet.
I kept quiet and drank your poison
while it hummed for me to sleep. I
was hopeless in that life
and the clouds were serenity.
No one knew you hugged me
and kissed my shoulder after we fought
because, in that life, I was reticent.
Our laughter broke the dawn
because you enjoyed that life more than
lying to everyone daily.
The sea is sugar and not
one devil eyed us like the prey of predators
awaiting a hairpin drop.
In another life where stars were
quatrefoils, boys heal hearts instead
of breaking them.
Mothers favor their daughters more
than their sons and Fathers
have time for their family. Death
tries to avoid me and not the other way
around, because in that life
I wanted to live forever as long as
you had my back/arms/trust/support.
I wanted to wake up more than
I wanted to sleep.
Ants don't bite, and pupae take their time.
Fire makes you cold so in this life
you ask the person you call home
for their warmth.
But in this life,
You said everything but stay;
So I let go of that life
And lived alone.
